Celestial hammock and Pine Cone Cloak

Milkweed Pods are native to North America- I created these pieces back in 1996-1998. I wished to address what sustains us, what do we really need to live.  I was working on organic farms in British Columbia Canada that summer off grid, on a rural farm , no mirrors, no regular toilets, all back to nature.  When I moved back home to look after care my Mum in palliative treatment...it was my meditation to weave the pine cones together.....to weave the milkweed pods together.

How are we living on the planet earth?

What truly sustains and nourishes us?

Currently these pieces belong to Art Gallery 401 in Toronto, Canada. It would be wonderful to find a new home for these.  Ideas welcome for what might be their next life, perhaps somewhere else in Ontario or Canada or bring them to the UK or return them to nature leaving them up in a forest....

The pine cone cloak is made of hundreds of handsawn pine cones -  I desired to make a tapestry out of the beauty of nature simple ordinary yet out of this world....

and

celestial hammock made of milkweed pods very very light weight, delicate and yet resilient.
