5Rhythms

5Rhythms ~ there is no way to get it right, nor wrong. An invitation to follow your own movement. There are 5 distinct Rhythms. A simple map yet profound and potentially life changing in the permission offered by the 5Rhythms. Like creating a garden from the ground up, 5 ways of moving: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Ether - full circle, wave after wave. This form of dance is open to all, no dance experience needed, only a willingness to move and the courage to try something different - another step into the mystery of being alive in a human body.

Flowing

Flowing ~ the first Rhythm is the ground of the dance. Softening the earth of the body, the landscape. Roots. Finding our feet. Bringing our attention in, landing inside. Receptive. Our inhale, breath continuous, circular, fluid.

Staccato

Staccato ~ Lines and angles. The beat of the drum. Your Moving Centre to return to over and over. Hips and heart. Fire in the belly. In the second Rhythm choice, direction. How we meet the world, clear, direct, focused like the beat. The space in between accentuates the next movement, the next sound, the next vibration.

Chaos

Chaos ~ Surrender. Where the first and second Rhythms meet, unpredictable, like water able to change state. Release, letting go of what we know to open to what life is offering right in this moment. Body part is the head, keeping our feet rooted, connected whilst practising the ability to dissolve into new creative life energy.

Lyrical

Lyrical ~ Lightening up, not taking ourselves so seriously. Hands, fingers sensing how they touch the air, our world, what we love. The deeper our roots, the greater our reach towards the sky. The dance kisses the light of the moon inside and out.

Stillness

Stillness ~ A moving meditation more subtle, full of breath, landing inside the empty space created by the dance. No one else can dance your dance. This moment is all we ever have. Bringing ourselves fully present to the breath and how it takes shape through each of us. Right here, now.
