Creative expressive dance allows life

Creative expressive dance can be a way of allowing life to unfold from the elbows, shoulders, hips & heart, knees….

Whatever story is ready to breathe, move and find a new shape.

Dance is an endless creative possibility. We can each find out more about being alive in a human body that is constantly changing.

Dance like you. No one else can.

Words from Dancers

So glad that the space you create is there, such a nurturing and safe space to explore where my heart needs to go.”

Day workshop dancer, Sheffield, Nov 2023

“Votre présence très douce et inspirante J'ai adoré ce week-end, la thématique très porteuse Dans les jours qui ont suivi, j'ai senti mon corps battre comme un coeur dans chaque pore de peau, chaque cellule et je me sentais très vivante. Je vous remercie chaleureusement pour votre qualité d'être, votre générosité et les bienfaits du mouvement partagé. J'espère avoir l'occasion de danser à nouveau en votre compagnie. De tout coeur.”

“Sarah teaches with a lightness of touch and lyrical spirit that incorporates her exquisite sensitivity to life in all its many shades , her creativity , and her dedication to the dance , both in her own life , and in encouraging it in others. She holds her sessions with authenticity , subtlety and strength . Out of many teachers, Sarah is one I choose to dance with again and again . I recommend her as a 5 Rhythms teacher who walks her talk and brings her own artistry and passion to her work with humility and playfulness"

Jan Rosa Lee, UK 2024

“Thank you for your gentle and powerful style.”  After Ensoleille 2024 June, Wakefield Quebec

Sylvie Desmarais, Montreal, Canada

“Sarah showed sincere intentionality about reverencing the space held for us dancers, helping us to do the same. She facilitates with gentleness, grace and deep respect for everyone.
I was nervous about partner work but I relaxed when I sensed total permission to choose to opt in or out of various exercises and as a result I did give it a go and learned a lot about myself and stretched my comfort zone!
It was a joy to be and express myself authentically in such a welcoming and non-judgemental space. I'll certainly be returning.”

Amy, Belper, March 2025

“Sarah strikes the perfect balance of support and gentle challenge in her sessions.  She gives me permission to be myself.  And she plays great music.”

Pete, Sheffield, March 2025

“Thank you so much for the workshop on Saturday, it was my first experience of 5Rythms and it was really beautiful and welcoming and gave me lots of things that I needed. So much beautiful connection and community in movement.”

Tom Vickers, Nottingham, March 2025

“Just magic again at the dance.”

Pauline Rignall, Sheffield, March 2025

I absolutely loved Saturday, it was EXACTLY what I needed. I definitely want to come to the next full day event. Whenever I dance I always wonder why I have left it so long.

I loved how welcoming you were from the moment I arrived. The whole group was lovely and you created a safe space. I especially appreciated how the pair activities were fully optional, giving everyone opportunities to engage how they felt comfortable to, without any judgement.

It was a beautiful and powerful day for me. I am so greatful
I was more open and trusting .
That evening my body felt so open.”

Rosie, Sheffield, March 2025

Sarah holds space safely and empathically enabling dancers to contact and work with what is within and connects me to what is fundamentally my elemental self. Thank you I do  so enjoy  and benefit from your workshops

Sarah's 5 Rhythms brought me back to dance (which I'd been immersed in as a girl but had lost) and her sessions helped me to feel like myself again, after many years away.  She opens up a musical, spacious, hopeful dance with no faffing or self-consciousness,  Sarah and the music look after us.  Her classes are one of the rare places in life where I feel safe, even if we're making moves or connections that challenge me.  I trust her.

“Very self-conscious, I walked in and Sarah welcomed me. Her words were warm and kind. I realised I was in a safe space. Still nervous and feeling a bit shy slowly I started moving. I soon realised nobody was looking at me. That room was free of judgement As I started giving myself permission my body was moved by my own breath effortlessly and Sarah’s words were touching me in places that had been long asleep. Places I was trying to avoid. Her words and the music started unlocking them. I felt my body expanding.I can’t describe with words what happened that day…it felt like pure magic. My fear of being seen vanished because I felt safe. The way Sarah was holding the space for all of us made me trust and surrender.

I came back every single week after that. For the first few weeks I still felt nervous as I was walked into the building but, deep down, I knew there was no going back. Something in me had shifted after that first dance. I have found something very special and a very special teacher who can hold a space where people could be their true selves, with their beauty, their ugliness, their joy, fear, sadness, their ecstasy …

I have been dancing with Sarah for 8 years.

It has shaped and transformed me in many ways. The dance has become my compass and spiritual practice. I am immensely grateful I crossed paths with Sarah. Her dance has built a beautiful community around it. She runs the class every week.”

“Your guidance, including the metaphors of nature, guide us into a wonderfully human-nature connect experience. Music was fantastic too (a good blend of different tempos/genres to explore different ways of moving).  Every time I attend your workshops they feel beautifully sensitively curated. They are very powerful for a deep embodiment process, and a good mix of solo and pair/group dance practice and feel very held in your space. Extremely valuable.”
